FUGUE,

2026 - Ongoing

A dotted blank canvas of what appress to be a portrait
A person's eye peeking out from beneath their arm, with their hand resting on their face, and another person's hand gently touching their arm.

Borrowing from the musical form, Fugue explores the return of a theme through variation and transformation. Here, the recurring theme is the self-image ; printed, altered, reintroduced into the landscape, and encountered again in a new state.

Through this cyclical process, the work explores identity as something continually shaped through relationship: with image, material, time, memory, and the living world.

The landscape becomes an active participant rather than a backdrop, transforming the image as much as the image enters the landscape. What remains is not a fixed portrait, but a trace of presence, constantly changing, dissolving, and becoming.
